  • Real wood:  Real, natural wood plank flooring is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful floor covering option available.  Although it is more expensive than other flooring options, there’s just nothing like a real wood floor. Wood floors do require a bit more maintenance than, say, tile or stone, but if you don’t mind that part, you just can’t beat a natural wood floor.
  • Engineered wood:  Engineered wood is another wood floor option that is less expensive.  Engineered wood flooring is still wood, however, it is layered veneers of a lesser quality wood (plywood) and then is topped with a real wood veneer of the selected species of wood and then finished to the desired texture, finish and color.  It is more stable than solid wood flooring.  It is less prone to shrinkage and expanding with changes in the weather and humidity.  Maintenance is a little less than that of a real, solid wood floor, but is still required.
  • Laminate:  Laminate wood floors are similar to engineered wood flooring.  They are made with layers of material, laminated together under pressure and heat.  Typically, the inner core is made from a High Density Fiberboard (HBF).  That inner core is then topped with an “image” of wood or stone (most common) and then a clear protective layer over that.  Less costly than engineered wood, but also less quality and less durable, in our opinion.

Tile:  Why choose tile?  Tile never goes out of style.  The majority of homes today have one form or another of tile.  Natural stone, ceramic, and porcelain tiles look great and with so many different choices available, it can be a little overwhelming.  There are tiles out there today that look just like real wood floors!  These have become some of our most popular selections.

Carpet:  Carpet is still very popular for many people as it is one of the least costly flooring materials.  It is also much easier to change out if your design or interior style changes or if it gets worn or damaged.

There are a lot of options when it comes to carpeting, however, we, here at FHR just don’t find ourselves selling much of it.  We do sell it and it is absolutely available through us, we just don’t get asked for it too much.  The majority of our clientele choose to go with a form of tile.
